I have a Canon 730i mini DV camcorder and find my recordings are grainy in low light (I only record indoors). The low light settings aren't much use so I was thinking maybe I need a spotlight? Or would a 150W bulb be a better solution?

I have a 10'x10' studio that I do all my filming...with nearly 3000 watts of lighting, I can still get some low-light grain from time to time...it's bound to happen with these miniDV cams.

If you really want to get rid of the grain, then you should disable any gain. Though on smaller consumer DV cameras this may not be possible.
