  1. I ripped some video from my digital camcorder and burnt it onto a DVD cd. It works in all the dvd players i have tried it on, as well as the one in my computer itself. Is there a different conversion i have to use before burning? Any tips as to why it won't play in a playstation? The movie was done in mpeg2 format. The error i get on the playstation is "Disc Read Error".

    Here are my system specs:

    WinXP
    P4 3.0 GHz
    512 mb ram
    Radeon 9200 series
    160gb 7200rpm HD
    ASUS CRW-5232AS - DVD Burner
    Memorex DVD+RW 4x Media

1 of a couple of things. Try a better media, try a different format (+r or -r, look under dvd players to the left for compatibility), slower burn rate.

  3. Some playstations are picky about dvd media so you might just be out of luck with that one unless you open it up and adjust the laser.

  4. Try Nero. My son's PS2 has not had a single problem playing them other than using a different burning program. Give it a shot . Good Luck

Ive played home made DVD's on my PS2 and have yet to have a problem with them playing back. Of course, good quality media is important also, since the PS2 is quite picky in what it will/wont play. Ive used Ritek G04's and each of them have played fine for me. In fact, when I have done some VHS/DVD transfers for a few friends of mine, I test it in the PS2 before I say its done. Id figure if it will play in it, then it should play in most standalone DVD players. I noticed you use +R media.....try -R and see if that will work, i only use -R media for my final burns. And in using Encore to do my burns too, it works fine for me.

  7. FujiFilm +r 4x works great on my PS2 (SCPH-39001)...I've heard of burned media problems with some of the older first generations PS2 (lower model #'s) so that might be the case, or your using a PS1 and not PS2??
