  1. I have heard that it is not a good idea to keep video on DVD RW format for long periods of time because they may deteriorate faster than +R. Is this statement true? Thanks for any answers.

  2. are you planning to keep it for more than 30yrs?
if not, dont worry about it.

if its something u want to keep for even just a couple years
might as well put on +/- they cost less than 1/2 dollar

then put it on blue ray dics and then whatever dics technology they come up with.
    it's perpetual upgrade

Thats rubbish, why would you want to store data on an RW for long periods, surely that detracts from the whole rewritable thing.

  4. The reason I am storing some videos on rw is because someone gave me many of them so I decided to use some of them like +Rs. I would like to keep them for many years, since they are family videos. I know obviously that no one can tell for sure, but are there any theories out there, that rw's can degrade quicker? THX

just keep them in a cool dry place away from any light and they should last a while. but yes its true they dont last as long as +/-r. but they'll easily last long enough to make it to the next format ie. bluray/hd-dvd no worries
