  1. Check out www.oemexpress.com

Pretty cheap prices on blanks dvd's. A 50 spindle of Matrix media is 9.99. Not sure of the media code.

Do with it what you will

I'm a little wary about unbranded|unknown media, though. Maybe if I can get a sample or two...

  3. Thats what I was thinking. For $10 bucks for 50, thats a pretty good deal. Not too many places in Canada you will find prices like that.

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

Quick, somebody (else) buy some and run a check on them.

  6. My friend has bought them a couple of times and he says he has very little problems. Out of 3 spindles of 50, 3 coasters. Not a bad average.

  8. Thats cool. Good deals.

In the end, find out the return policy. If you can return them if they suck, what have you got to lose? An hour and $2 in gas?

Double wow, I work only 2 blocks away from there, no joke. I'll check this out and get myself a spindle, at 10$ for 50 I dont have much to lose.

It's Ville Saint-Laurent. They also appear to have other locations in Canada.

I'll try to pop in on them this week if I get a moment. My curiosity is piqued.

I go to the one in Kanata, ON all the time to get these DVDs. They work OK you do get the ocasional crappy disc but not that many and for 10$ you don't really care if you make coasters.

It'll be especially worth it if you're perambulating over from south of the border. The price, $10, is in Canadian dollars, so that converts to about 57¢ US.

OEM Express return policies in the past are they will not take back DVD or CD media. Anything else if not defective will be subjected to a 20% (?) restocking fee. I dealt with them a lot in the past.

Woah, I didn't consider that... now I'm actually kind of interested ...

Naw, I already have WAY TOO MANY DVDRs , I just bought 300 Fuji TY discs for $60 , and have 200 Ritek RICOHJPN RO1 discs, plus a bunch of other stuff. I have about 150 Shop4Tech Sonic MUST001 discs as well, and I've burned 100 of those as well and they are pretty good cheapo discs, and they are now down to ~$18 shipped per 100

Someone post the media code on these, I'd be curious to know what they are. It looks as though they are branded 'Digital Matrix', which looks like decent media if it is MEDIA ID001, looking at the reviews.

I finally popped by last night. The place is basically a guy behind a counter. That's to be expected, I suppose, because it's primarily an e-commerce business. I was a little wary when the guy was rather cagey about their return policy (only unopened or physically damaged packages), and he wouldn't sell me samples, but in the end I figured for $10, what the hell.

I burned one today, using Nero and my Pioneer A06. It burned OK at 4x and played OK on my Norcent DP300. So they work, and it's hard to beat the price.

I'll keep these for future use, but I think I'll keep using the Prodisc hub printables as my main discs because I just get so much joy from printing a nice-looking disc with my Epson R300. 8)

I thought the sweat coming from the guy's upper lip was because my mere presence struck awe into his heart, but then again maybe he thought I was the heat come to bust him.

Seriously though, the discs do feel flimsy, and they sell all kinds of other name-brand stuff, and though I suppose some of it might have "fallen off the back of a truck," they're interprovincial and sell new stuff. It's the computer "liquidation" place next door I wonder about. Tons of secondhand computer stuff. The two businesses don't appear related, though.

US Guy, so what finally tore you away from that charming part of town?

But this disc I burned plays fine in my Norcent DP 300, my RCA 5240P, and my Samsung DVD-VCR combo unit. I'm not saying drop all other media in favor of this one, and I'm certainly not planning on doing that, but if you're on a budget, these work OK for me. YMMV, as they say.

I don't know if they're the same owners, but they're not the same store. I think 123 Computers might be the ones I mentioned were next door, but it also might be yet another store, since there are quite a few near there.

Yeah, 123 Compute is the used computer store right next door. I don't think they are the same guys as 123 Compute either. Next time I see the owners of 123 Compute I'll ask them about it.

I burnt a couple of them today on my LG 4040 4X burner, they only burned at 2X though (not the first advertise as 4X cheap media that only burns at 2X on my burner though), I'm going to see if it can burn at 4X on my brother's Asus burner. The DVD played fine on my Panasonic DVD player and my Nova DVD player which is picky about DVD-R media. So far so good. I'll probably just use theses to give DVDs to my friends and data storage.
