It's a good thing you cleared that up. I beginning to wonder where the steering wheel was supposed to be mounted on my laptop. Nice photos.

Does this mean I should be embarrassed that my PC looks like that?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Actually, I would be very impressed to see a home computer look like that. Hmmm, any links to used submarine parts?

  5. Let's progress this - what will computers be like in 2054? I think they will have large flat screens (19-21" standard) or be wearable for 3D graphics. The tower architecture will endure, and we will still use a mouse and keyboard.

    Any ideas?

The steering wheel could have been for an early prototype of a PC game similar to Rad Racer.

I like the snazzy monitor on the wall. B&W and probably a Zenith judging by the grill cloth

I've got a pic somewhere of a "supercomputer" my company had from the late '50s. The specs are hilarious. Lemme see if I can find it in the company's archives

Edit: Now that I think of it a little it wasn't a supercomputer. The picture was in one of the Lab News issues and showed either a Control Data or a Data General mainframe. It was huge, with this gigantic table in front of it where the operator sat. The speed (I remember this well) was normally 400 OPS, but the model my co. got was the "deluxe" version, at a whopping 4000 OPS Still better than the much older Eniac which took up a whole room, drew enough electricity to light up Cincinnati, and yielded 1900 OPS

    Funny what people perceive.
When I was a kid I always wanted a Ford cortina, absolutely adored the car, but figured by the time I grew up we wouldn't have roads and people would travel in 'hover cars'.
Guess what! - I ended up with a cortina as my first car.

tell you what Cap, i'll dig out a photo now for you,
what a car - both doors had rust holes the size of footballs and you could get 40mph out of it if you were going down hill with the wind behind you.
Oh, I loved that car, If i remember right I had to pay the scrap yard £10 to take it away

That sounds like my first car - a 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air with a "three on the tree", manual everything, a 230 slant six, park bench green, and as long as a train. Oh, how I loved that car. There's nothing like that first car is there? 8)
