I've bought this player in Sweden but mine cant play vcd either. According to the swedish samsung site (www.samsung.se) it can but that is wrong! The samsung site is really bad, some of the specifications are false.

At samsung.co.uk theres no mention of vcd but on samsung.de and samsung.me,they both say that it can play vcd.Furthermore when I put a svcd in and look at the info,it will show its an svcd, number of audio channels and subtitles available but wont play it.This leads me to believe that it will play either vcd or svcd with a hack.

I tested the same thing with my player and it works. I had no idea that the info button was activated during the "invalid disc" screen
Anyway this is nice... My hope for a hack just jumped one level
