Maybe I posted this in the wrong place, so I'll ask here -

Ok, maybe I'm really missing something simple here, but I'm stumped. I finally have my equipment set up, and got it working properly. I've got -

    for video-DVD-RW transfer:
    JVC HR-S9911U SVHS VCR
    AVT-8710 TBC
    JVC DR-M10 DVD writer
    Walmart special 13" colour TV

    for DVD-RW to DVD-R conversion:
    Fujitsu P5020D w/DVD drive (-R read only)
    TDK external 8x DVD+-R/RW

Anyway, I converted my first VHS tape to a DVD-RW. I took it out of the M10 and dropped it into the TDK (the laptop can't read the -RW disc I discovered). The Roxio DVD player will play the disc if I point it at the TDK drive. However, the drive does not register as having a disc in it. Also, if I try to "open" the drive, I get a window pop up that says there is nothign in the drive.

When I formatted the disc in the M10 I remember it had asked if I wanted one type of format or another. I can't remember what the choices were called, but I chose the option that let me rewrite "thousands of times" I think it said.

So, I can't get my laptop to see the disc, so I can transfer the file I assume is on the -RW disc to my laptop HDD so I can author it. Any help on what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Did I format the disc wrong so now my laptop can't "see" it? Something else?

    Help please, and thanks!
