  3. Assuming you have a 108 and not 108XL, you'll need DVRflash, which is here: http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/DVRFlash_v2.0.zip and the firmware which is here: http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/DVR-108%20v1.14%20-%20RPC-1%20+%2012xRip%20+%20nx4all.zip

Use DVRFLASH in command prompt to flash the drive using a commandline something like this:

    DVRFLASH -v (drive) R8100108.114

As always read all instruction for the DVRflash and Firmware if un-sure.

    HTH.

I updated my firmware on Friday. I'm experienceing some coasters on -R's Tao Yudens. But with +R's, I'm recording @ 2:15 min as suppose to 8:00 min before on 8X Tao Yuden blanks. Still love my drive.

    DVDDave.

We, proud owners of a 108, have now an interesting choice:
Flash with hacked f/w for increase speed
or (better, IMO): flash with legal f/w for bitsetting.

I use TY02 and G05. With the standard f/w, I can select up to 12x.
    Good enough for me

i might be wrong but the f/w for the bitsetting isnt a legal one it will still void your warranty if you use it

  12. It would appear that you have a Pioneer 108XL and in which case you would need to use this firmware http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/DVR-108XL%20v1.14%20-%20RPC-1%20+%2012xRip%20+%20nx4all.zip
However this patched firmware is still highly experimental.
If it does turn out that you do own a 108XL, the bitsetting firmware which RickTheRed mentioned would also be incompatible with your drive. Your best option IMO is to wait for the experimental firmware to become final...
