UK broadband gets speed injection
An eight megabit service has been launched by internet service provider UK Online. That's cheaper than most 1 meg tarrifs! The service comes with a hefty £39.99 monthly price tag but will mean users can download MP3s in seconds and offers TV-quality video streaming.

Yes it's only £5 more than NTL's 1 Meg Cable service and cheaper than many ADSL 1 Meg services .
-
Does not say if there are any download limits though. Not a lot of use if you only get 1-2 gig a month which is pretty common for some broadband packages.
-
Yeah... like in Oz where you get 10mbit
but with 10 - 20 gig soft cap limits. I get
around 22 gig a month on ave before being
soft capped. The maximum I've got in a
month was 70gig. -

I reckon you could quite easily DL is enough people have the fiel you want.
There are also a few big whales on WinMX who have T3 connections and go on for about an hour a day for a smash and grab. If you get two or three of those going your 8 meg line will be on fire!Regards,

I though NTL increased everyones subscription by 50%.
Not that I would know, my area is too snobby to have its roads dug up. -

BTW, TW are not charging an admin fee -
And despite all this, cable broadband is still unavailable to most of London - that's right, the nation's capital.
