I recently started to do all my captures on my Panasonic DVD recorder in XP mode, 10 MBps with AC-3 sound. I had previously been fitting 2 episodes of TV series to disc using FR mode which tops out at about 8 MBps. I was converting those files to SVCD with DVD2SVCD and getting very good results. Now however, I can't make the program go beyond the AVS stage (stripping audio and converting to 44.1 kHz). After 17 hours of letting the program just run, I shut it down. Previously, it was taking about 5 hours to do a 45 minute episode. I was able to confirm this by using the same Mpeg-2 file and converting it to SVCD using TMPGEnc 3.0 Express. 5 hours and a very nice picture with stereo sound and deinterlaced. I can't find anything on this on Doom9's site so I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I still find it a shame that DVD2SVCD can't just use DVD spec mpegs instead of having to author a temporary DVD. It would make life simpler for me...
