    Hello,

For all you stargazers out there:

    http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/11/16/meteor.shower/index.html

I actually saw a meteor shower several years ago in the summertime

I caught a glimpse of maybe a half dozen over a few hours (no telescope just out in the backyard).

    Neat stuff

  2. I always watch these, I remember the last 2, one was a disappointment and the other was average.

Still haven't seen a really good one were the sky is full of them.

I was fortunate to be backpacking in one of our wilderness areas about ten years ago during the Perseid's meteor showers. No moon, no terrestrial light pollution, large expanse of sun warmed rock on the side of a mountain, fantastic show. A couple of the lower ranging meteors left a smoke trail as they passed through the lower atmosphere. Really made the show a high point of the trip.

Meteor showers occur several times each year. Some years have better showers. The name of the shower usually tells you the constatation or part of the sky they appear to originate from. On a good year, with a good show, no moon, really worth the effort to view.

  5. Listen to meteors and other things fly thru the Air Forces' space radar station in texas.

    Stream - http://mp3.nasa-us1.speedera.net:8000/mp3.nasa-us1/navspasur

    Info - http://www.roswellastronomyclub.com/meteors.htm

This guy is in Roswell and streams the audio. Can be done simply in your own back yard with a receiver and TV antenna....

There is also a guy in Scandanavia somewhere that can hear the signals bounce off the moon.
