hello guys. I have a sony DCR-TRV30E video camera and live in australia. My question is what format and aspect ratio is my camera capturing on DV( pal or ntsc,16:9 or 4:3), because most encoding specifiy's that the end format should be that of the original. The reason i ask is that i have done a few captures with either windows movie maker, nerovision express 3 and WinDv and encoded with tmpgenc using guides in this forum and the end result is always looks fast with jagged motions. I am using a Pal 720/576 resoluton with 4:3 aspect ratio for my final result. What could be the problem![]()

Load your "captured" (it's really just a file transfer, but anyway) file into GSpot or AVICodec and it should tell you if it's PAL or NTSC (you can tell by the frame rate), and also what aspect ratio it is. As for the jaggedness, it could be caused by a number of things, such as incorrect field order for one.
If in doubt, Google it.
