The above writer is about 6 months old and until recently been very reliable.

I am now getting a lot of problems when burning DVDs using mainly CloneDVD2/AnyDVD.

Originally I thought there might have been a problem caused by my installing SP2 but I've checked and been told that there are no issues with CloneDVD2/AnyDVD and SP2.

CloneDVD2 goes through the burn process and says it has completed OK but when I try and play the DVD (using PowerDVD) I get an error " A disc with an unsupported format in drive".

If I then check the disc with DVD Decrypter/Nero they both say the disc is empty. I can then start the burn process which goes through until the end but fails. in the case of Nero it says Session fixation error and Could not perform end of Disc-at-once.

I've just installed a couple of new drives and I wondered if the way I had my devices setup could be the problem (I had the burner originally as Primary Slave) but I have now put my two hard drives on the Primary IDE and my burner is now Secondary Master with a Phillips CDRW200 as Secondary slave.

The problem doesn't seem to happen everytime some DVD-RW have been OK and even a couple of DVD-R have been written properly but I can't recall now if I used DVD Decrypter/Nero rather than CloneDVD2 to burn the image. I've also used a couple of different types of DVD-R media that I've used before and the results are still unpredictale.

I'm now wondering if the burner itself is the problem but don't know how/if I can check it.

The burner should still be under warranty (UK) but I need to find the original receipt if I'm to take it back to the retailer and I'm sure they will ask me lots of technical questions before agreeing to an exchange/repair.

If I can't find the receipt I'll have to think about buying a replacement but don't want to do that without being sure the burner is faulty.

    Any help appreciated.

Liteon dvd burners are known to favor DVD+R media than DVD-R. Check out the LITEON FORUM at cdfreaks.com. There are people in that forum site that can help you out. The configuration seems to be fine with the way you have it set up. What brand of dvd-r media are you using? make sure you have DMA enabled on the Liteon dvd burner. Sometimes adding or changing the configuration will put the dvd burner in the PIO mode.

I had an 851s and never experienced a problem with DVD-R or DVD-RW. Of course, your situation may be different. What type of media are you using? Doesn't really sound like a media issue, but doesn't hurt.
