I have a Panasonic PV-DV103 camcorder and if I try and play back a miniDV tape provided by a client that has 16-bit 48k audio, while I can hear the audio fine through the PV-DV103's internal speaker and its display correctly shows it as 16-bit, no audio arrives at my PC via firewire for capturing, only video.
When I play a miniDV that has 12-bit audio, that audio arrives at the PC with the video just fine.
I had no trouble getting 16-bit DV audio into the PC from other camcorders.
Anyone run into anything like this and have any clues why 12-bit would get across firewire fine but 16-bit doesn't? And any solutions?
thanks,
trock

Never heard that before. I use 16 bit exclusively and never had any problems.
You may want to try another DV capture utility. Make sure you capture Type-2 avi.Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Yes, it's bizarre. Same thing in a number of capture utilities and no matter whether type 1 or 2. With 12-bit I can monitor the incoming audio but not at 16-bit because for some reason it's not arriving at the PC.
