LMAO, I can't believe someone has actually asked for someone to create a program that adds copy protection. Saying that maybe he's just older video format to DVD converter or someone who makes DVD's from weddings etc and just wants to protect his work
you can read the request HERE
it's a shame I can't code as I know a couple of methods that can trip up a few backup programs :P
I have added a poll after posting a couple of things later in this thread HERE and HERE to get people's view on this

Maybe you could and maybe you couldn't, others can code as well
heh naw I'd suspect they'll get around to it one day.
Honestly, if they'd spend half the funds in developing new copy protection schemes instread of sueing and trying to remind us on tv, movie theathers etc that pirating is wrong (which they ALREADY KNOW) they might stand a chance in the war on pirating.
Just an opinion...

[EDIT]
PS. I just woke up and when I reread your post I noticed that half of what I ranted about didnt even pertain to yours...Sorry about that! DOH

anything could be got around
, even if they added finger print and retina scanning to a DVD
why don't the studios just bring out the cheapest possible version you could buy instead of inflating prices? They could even keep current protection to put off the average buyer from copying it as people would still copy them regardless anyway
charge something like $5 for a simple DVD and basic sleeve. I don't watch the cover when I enjoy the movie and the fancy packaging doesn't make me buy a DVD either!
if they sold legitimate DVD copies at $5 a shot then they would probably sell 10 times more than at say $20 so why don't they realise this? I would probably still spend the same money on DVD's, I would just be buying more of them
I wonder how many pirates would be put out of business if they did this! LMAO
:EDIT: no probs, -
[EDIT]
Now that I can def agree with!

well, maybe you don't really like the packaging etc, but i know alot of peopel do, and i certainly do. Theres nothing better than holding a shiny new DVD in your hand with a swanky cover, and DVD inside.I wouldnt bother buying the DVD if they only did $5 versions. They'd be a joke.
The packaging is part of a ploy to say to people 'hey, u can get this from a pirate, but look at what we've got extra that the pirate version doesnt have'(packaging, disk art - OFFICIAL-NESS - i think i made that word up, bu tu know what im getting at). It's what makes them differ. Same with audio cd's.

I agree totally on this. I wish some studio would market two versions of a popular film. One with all the fluff currently included in DVD releases and another stripped down version for half the price. I would be willling to bet that the sales of the stripped down version would out sell the full version.
Not a scientific study on my part, just an opinion. It doesn't matter who you vote for. The government always gets in. -
they could still do the fancy packaging of course as there is always a market for that. There is also huge 'black' market for cheap copies though
If they did legalise this market then nobody would be buying the crappy copy from the 'local' pirate at work or local fairs. I bet for every original DVD sold the pirates sell 10 copies if not more. My point is what's to stop them employing a pirate to create decent 'backup' copies that could be sold legitimately?
and it's the same with CD's and probably in a bigger way too! -
The army of hackers is popping their knuckles just waiting to crack the new method.

How much copy protection can $1000 buy?It doesn't matter who you vote for. The government always gets in. -

You can't copy protect something you can see on your computer monitor. All you need to do is point a camcorder at the screen
