  1. I highly suggest people stay far away from these coaster plagued discs here:

I’m a little pissed as I don’t have any real “favorite” online media site I purchase from as I’m like most people, I’m just looking for a great deal. I was looking for some high quality discs at around .30 to .35 each when I stumpled across those Linkyo discs and I wish I hadn’t ever found those. I purchased a 100 pack, got them on Tuesday and haven’t had a single good burn yet! Each and every finished disc has some small splotches on the dye, and a couple of big splotches as well. When I try to play the discs they studder, skip, stop, pixelate, etc. These Linkyo DVD-R’s are about as good as burning a mini Frisbee. For the record I tried burning these at lower speeds and the results were the same, terrible. I know some would say you get what you pay for, but I disagree. I’ve purchase “a lot” of inexpensive media that has been very high quality and where I’ve had no issues.

What really disturbs me most about this is Supermediastore specifically states on their site that these discs are high quality “GRADE A” discs. That couldn’t be further from the truth and these discs are anything but high quality. The media code of these discs interestingly is “TYG02” but I don’t need someone to tell me these aren’t Taiyo Yuden, that’s very obvious. I just saw Best Buy has 100 pack of 8x Memorex for $39.99 so for now I’ll get those. I was gonna email supermediastore and complain but I realized I wasn’t gonna accomplish anything because they are still gonna false advertise “GRADE A” discs on this crud and I don’t have the time to be bothered. I’ll tell you this, supermediastore will never get another red cent of my money. If the discs were garbage, I’d let it slide, but the whole “GRADE A” thing really bothers me. Anyway, I figured I’d just give people a heads up to stay far away from these trash can coaster filler discs.

  2. I agree. These "mis-coded" discs are one of the worst examples of false advertising I have seen. Fortunately you will get most of your cost back, but I would advise against plunging into what looks like a "brand name" media. Memorex has a number of different media codes and it is a crap shoot as to whether you will get a good one or not. You might want to try Prodisc 4X -R from Rima. The media code no longer is a reliable S03 but the alternatives are pretty decent and the price is right.
Still a few bugs in the system...

  3. I e-mail Rima before I order every time and tell them I only want S03 or S04 discs, then they send me what I want. I buy a box of 500 though, I don't know if they would guarantee a certain code for 100 or not.

What's wrong with MCC02RG20-coded PRODISC media? I think the MCC perform better than PRODISCS03, far less coasters!

    Linkyo is supermediastore's own brand:

It sounds like relabeled crap media that other manufacturers threw out. I'd definitely avoid this media like the plague

Reminds me of Shop4tech's Leda media ...which is relabeled Princo, but the mfgr. is listed as being Leda:

I think they all lie about their cheap media

I have never had a Prodisc coaster using S03 or S04, burned hundreds of them.

I had a rejection rate, though still small.

  8. I don't know what a rejection rate is, so I guess I've never had one of those either.

    Rejection ... bad apples... coasters.
Rate ... an amount in an amount.

Rejection rate = number of coasters per 100

  10. Haven't seen a coaster in the 700-800 or so S04, S03 discs I've burned. That's why I e-mail first.
