Up untill a few days ago I was getting 2x to 4x performance out of my Plextor px708a recorder/reader depending on the media. I've not installed any new software or upgrades but suddenly I'm getting mostly 1x performance. I'm going to perform a firmware uppgrade but I really don't expect to see a change. Is it normal for readers/writers to slow with age? I've tried a non chemical brush type DVD/CD but it did nothing.
This just occured to me, how about a weak power supply? When I rebooted yesterday the XP OS did not come up right away, I had to power down and up again to get to xp. I seen where a weak power supply can prevent XP from initiating.

Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

Is DMA enabled on your computer?
Also, this topic should probably be in the DVD Writers forum.
