Oh be still my heart 8) 100 DVD movies on one disc?

But ...I just wish some standard format would be picked instead of every company coming out with its own media and format

They need to learn a lesson from the magneto-optical wars from a few years back, and even the "+ versus -" duplication of efforts we still see :P

    Hello,

The video industry learning a lesson???

That's doubtful. Why conform to one standard when you can wage a price war and claim yours is better than somebody elses?? And then put false claims on compatibility or at least hype your own with no reliable evidence to back it up.

No we'll never have it that easy again. It's amazing we ever got the dvd standard completed!

Hddvd??? Bluray???? - + R RW??????? It will never end......

these new technologies for high capacity optical storage are popping up everywhere. from 1TB Holographic discs to pioneer's EBR technology to MMI 201GB blu-ray discs to the sony 8 layer blue ray discs and now pioneer's ultraviolet 500GB. I dont know if any of these will see the light of day when it comes to the regular joe, but one can only hope.

Why standardize when you can start your own proprietary format and charge royalties?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
