  1. I´m caturing with this tool Canopus MPEG PRO EMR, using mediacruise, but after irregular periods it says:

    copy guard is effective can not save this stream.

    Can someone help saying what that means?

    thanks

    I've read that this Canopus product has the black level bug ... it is hardwired to accept a 0.0 IRE BLACK LEVEL input.

    This is fine for PAL and for Japanese NTSC but for all other forms of NTSC (including that used in the USA and Canada) you will have a black level problem which results in an overly bright picture with a lack of black level (making blacks less than true black ... almost a sort of "grey" black) plus it saps the color intensity.

    According to Canopus the design was hardwired for this ... meaning it cannot be fixed with a firmware upgrade or software method etc.

    This has been known now for a long time ... long enough that I am surprised Canopus hasn't addressed it with a new design but the model numbers (there is an external unit and an internal unit) are the same so one would assume that no internal fix has been made or they would have changed the name or something.

    most likely, that video tape has macrovison protection, but one that changes the protection type at regular intervals - most likely your Canopus records well as long as the "macrovision signal" remains stable but at the point of change, it can't handle it anymore; this kind of variable macrovision signal is typically found on Disney tapes;
    I had once a similar experience using a Datavideo Dac analog/DV convertor with a Disney tape ;
    like Lordsmurf said: only a full frame TBC can handle that

    Well lucky for you but the card is still defective for a large part of the population.

    Anyways how can I tell where you are at since you didn't fill in your location.

    Sorry I ain't a mind reader.
