I've probably seen it 6 or 7 times. Steve Railsback did such a great job as Manson ...the scene right at the end before the credits roll ...chilling. Railsback got the insanity thing perfect for that movie.

Remake Now why would they remake that movie? The original was so well done ...written by the prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi.

I know that is what I said ...but I decided to give it a chance and like I said it was pretty good..I liked the way they intesified the camera to a white and black , overexposed effect with intense scenes..

  8. I saw both versions

The newest one is focused more on the manson family and crime scenes, while the trial is rushed and pressed for time.
There are a number of inaccuracies and some things are a bit exaggerated - I 've seen enough documentaries on this subject to know firsthand.

It's still a decent movie - but Jeremy Davies seems to try a little too hard in his Manson character. At times. it can be intense and at others, it's annoying.

The 1976 movie is much more indepth, more trial and investigation focused and the acting is far more superior, IMO.
Not just Steve Railsback but the entire cast - they not ony act well, they actually look more like the people they are playing.

See the 1976 movie before watching the new one - but both have things covered that you won't see in just one version.

Try to see some of the documentaries made about Manson and Sharon Tate as well for more accurate details.

The book is also a good read, but only covers so far.
The reason they remade it is there was more info and details that came out in the years following.

Both versions are on DVD - and the newest one is longer than the one aired on TV.
