I have some avi's that i want to convert to mpeg format to make dvd's out of. I used VCD format mpeg 1's because when i tried SVCD format mpeg 2's the dvd authoring program said that the screen size was not compatible with the program. I am using TMPGEnc to encode and TMPGEnc DVD authoring to author my dvd's. Is there a program for authoring that will let me us SVCD format mpegs.
thanks

Hi Iorkca,
Look under "What Is..." for both SVCD and DVD - you'll see that the SVCD specs (namely resolution and audio frequency: 480 x 480 / 576 (NTSC / PAL) and 44,100KHz) doesn't appear in the DVD specs.
If you want to encode at SVCD bitrates, but be able to author your MPEGs to DVD, the nearest to go for would be 352 x 480 / 576 and the audio must be at 48,000KHz.
TMPGEnc (encoder) will do this no problem, and then TMPGEnc DVD Author will accept the (now valid) MPEGs.
Hope that helps. Good luck...There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
