  1. Sorry, I didn't quite know where to put this message.

In any case, I want to build a DivX player. What processor speed you would recommend, and more importantly what graphics card would you recommend with solid TV out?

Has anyone had success with SIS generic Tv OUT as there is a motherboard that I am eyeing that is Slot A, with integrated audio, and a TV out video card for $170 (Canadian). This would be a cheap alternative. Anyone have any reommendations?

  2. I would think at least a P3 or Duron 600 minimum processor speed but preferably 900 to 1Ghz.
ATI cards usually have pretty good TV-out. Nvidia TV-out cards can also be good because you can use the TVtool utility to tweak the output settings.
I am thinking about the DivX player idea as well. I was looking at a barebone system from Shuttle called SV24. It features a cool aluminum cube-shaped case and has an integrated Via mobo for P3 or Celeron. It has built-in sound and video with TV-out and also Firewire and LAN ports. I also saw a little NetPC from MSI that has an Intel 815 mobo with everything integrated. It has a small desktop case that would fit good in my entertainment center. It would be cool to also put in a video capture card to make it like a Tivo as well as a DivX player.
