hitachi DVP415U

Hi i just got a hitachi DV-P415U and it won't play vcd for some reason. It will play SVCD but it starts the movie at the very end. I've tried everything, all my vcds work fine in my other hitachi. I even took it back and got another one thinking it had something wrong with it.. Please any help would be great.

I have the exact same DVD player as you and have found that I can play VCD and SVCD. I can even play the XSVCD files, but they are very choppy. One thing I found with VCD, is that the DVD player is really picky... I had to use Nero... and make sure that the file was compliant. SVCD's I could play no matter what the specs where. Do you use Nero? If not, try it out... see if that helps.. If you are playing VCD's that are already recorded and they are not playing, I don't know... mine seems to work.
