  1. Hi,

I have captured some AVI files using ULEAD Movie Factory. They are a continual file of around 4gb and can be accepted by TMPGEnc and other encoding programmes. When I try and open them in LIGOS SX-MPEG stand alone encoder though they will not open and I get an error message saying they are non standard. Could someone please explain what I may be doing wrong. I have had the Ligos encoder now for a few weeks and so far have been unable to use it for anything.
    Take care

  2. The Ligos LSX35 does not like 4G AVI files or DV video. You can get around the 4G file size limit by frameserving with VirtualDub. You can get around the DV file problem by downloading and installing the demo version of Mainconcept's DV codec from Mainconcept.com. You are not done yet. You have transcode the DV type 1 files to DV type 2 files using DVD Movie Factory. With Mainconcept's DV codec installed and a DV type 2 avi file you are now ready to frameserve to the Ligos LSX35.

  3. Thanks for the info.

Woow! Thank goodness for technology. Who said computer programmes weren't getting more user friendly.

I think that I shall and try and get my money back from Ligos and stick with TMPEnc which is producing good MPEG files and likes my AVI's.
