  1. AM i crazy or is the latest DVDSanta (v3.44) and the previous version just laced with obvious, upfront errors?! Perhaps I'm just using the app improperly? The tool has practically no options, selecting an NTSC video resolution doesnt seem to make a difference, there's a green bar on all newly encoded videos at 352x480 resolution, etc. WHat a mess. WHy oh why doesnt the programmer just "run" the app before releasing...

With that said the tool does seem to encode quickly (30 mins compared to TMPGEnc's 2hrs) and is the ONLY reason Im writing this message. Is there some kind of patch or way to get this mess to function?

    Im using WinXP SP2.

IMHO, all (well, possibly with very few exceptions) "one click" applications are an embarassment.

  4. Well, I just used it to make a picture slideshow for my girlfriend's birthday, complete with 3 background mp3s. There were a few problems I had with it such as the time of the music compared to the pictures was way off, and a few mp3s I tried were reported being twice as long as they actually are. Also, when you do a preview, the program tends to lock up and I have to remember to save my project, restart the program and try again, or start all over. Also, I don't know if it's just me or not, but I think there is a big time memory leak. XP reported the program as using 33MB memory, but the pagefile was at 1.5GB! That's insane.

After a few frustrating hours and 2 DVDs, I finally managed to spit out a project I was happy with. The frustrating thing is I'm not aware of a better alternative for a project like that.

Did you check the option to put those in sync?

  6. I've only used once. I Had a Pal movie of "My Name is Nobody" and used this to convert over to NTSC. It took a while but worked great. True not a lot of options, but for a Pal-Ntsc, Ntsc-Pal converter sure beats the long (!!!!!!) methods that I see everyone using. So for that alone, great. You can always use another program once that has been done to do your other special features.....Terence
