I'm trying to fit two 42 minute video files onto a SVCD. When I try to add the files they are too large to get both on. And I tried to shrink the file size using TMPGenc Plus but the files are still too big. Is there something else I should do or give up and just put one file per disc?

Adjust the video and audio bit rate lower. Personally I'd just use 2 CD's. I can get 25 hours of footage on one DVD but I'm not going to do it.

you are going to have to use a non standard svcd to get it to work. what i use to use when i did a lot of encoding was use vbr long sustained format and i would change the audio to 96 kbps. there are better templates out there but i was happy with the results so i didn't change,

I just wanted to bring something to your attention first:

If this is correct, I would seriously save yourself the hassle and IMO the waste of time, and put each file on its own CD, because your quality will go down the shitter if you try to squeeze 84 minutes on 1 CD @ SVCD specs. If in doubt, Google it. -
You might possibly get away with 84 mins as VCD, on a 90 min CD-R.
