I'm in a little movie trivia group. My contribution is to provide a 30 or so second soundtrack clip from a movie and they try to guess the movie.

Some people hear it fine, while others stop and starts and even I have a couple of second lag when it first starts up. Why? I was using a huge wave file in Frontpage 2002, but then found out how to insert an mp3 formatted background sound on a blank page. Shouldn't the shorter, compressed, mp3 file work better than the wave file? When I used a wave file, it took a long time to load, but I didn't get the stutter.

Here's the clip and exactly the way I have it set up in the movie trivia games. Will you listen and give me an idea why some people hear it perfectly and others not?

From a 1964 Speghetti Western Film. Can you name the movie it played in?

The sound clip's vary in length, but generally, it takes 15 seconds or less to load. Also, the clip might open up in your media player or take you to a plain, slide bar. If it takes you to the slide bar, hit your browser's BACK button to return to this thread.
    <font color=forestgreen size=+1 face="forestgreen">
Starting out, the sound clip might hesitate. Just play it again. Performance is dependant on many things. Use your media player or slider bar functions to start, stop or replay the music.

[b]PS: I've switched to mp3 format, so the clips aren't so large, but the sound quality is most definitely compromised!

Well, that didn't work. Just delete it if you would. Thank you!

  3. A rather poor Anglosized version of the great Sergio Leone's
classic The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

For what it is, it plays fine. What's your problem exactly?

  4. WishMaker,

When I play this mp3 file in windows mediaplayer it sounds like I'm playing a .exe file. The mp3 file played perfectly with another player so the mp3 file is OK.

Hmm... So the soundclip plays fine for one and plays fine for another, except when playing in ms player on one machine.

On my machine, both when I click on the link and copy and paste the URL into the browser address, it starts out fine for a split second, then silence for about 2 seconds then plays fine the rest of the way.

One other movie trivia member stated it stop and started through the whole soundclip. I was just wondering what are the possible reasons for this, so I could either fix it or explain why it does this.

BTW, the soundcliip is from a Sergio Leone film, but it's from "A Fistful of Dollars" "Titoli", I believe.

Sorry for getting back so late.

PS: It did stop and stutter for one member no matter if it was in wave or mp3.

  7. This mp3 file Link Removed plays perfectly with windows mediaplayer. The only difference between my mp3 file and your mp3 file is that I have used 16 bands instead of 4 bands.
