  1. Here's my problem
I have an aerial connected to the unit for my 5 terrestrial channels (in the UK) and my Sky Digital box connected to the AV2 input on the unit.

My problem is, if I record a terrestrial channel and want to watch Sky, I can't do it, because, as Sky is routed through the unit, when it comes on to record, say, BBC1, the TV shows the channel that is being recorded (BBC1) and won't let me see Sky.
Is there any way to watch Sky (connected through the Scart Lead) whilst recording a terrestrial channel? I could go out of the video output on my Sky box to my other Scart input on the TV but it isn't RGB.

    Any ideas?

By "isn't RGB", do you mean it isn't component? So what? It's not going to matter much viewing it on a TV with short cables. Just use the SCART cable. That's the only way I can see where you aren't limited by what the recorder is seeing.

Or are you saying that the SCART available to go to the TV isn't compatible at all? I'm a cross-ponder and we don't have SCART here so I'm not sure if that's what you mean.

  3. By isn't RGB I mean it isn't a quality picture - i can see it, but RGB signals are much sharper. I can do this if I have to but I'd much rather find another solution.
    Cheers for the reply

I'm afraid what you said in the last lines is the only way for you to work this out. Since the recorder (I believe) has only one tuner, if you record a program you cannot watch another one on the recorder. Scart to another tv input is the only way as far as I can tell.
Sorry, I had to go see about a girl

I think so too. You'll have to bite the bullet and watch TV using the "interface of the unwashed masses"

I don't think you have many options that wouldn't cost you a fortune to implement. Good luck

  6. If you've got 2 RGB inputs on your TV, you could try using something like this device...

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=37672&TabID=1&source=15&WorldID=6&doy=21m10

Plug your RGB output from the Sky box into that, and you'd get 4 identical RGB outputs (all amplified and buffered). You could send one to your DVD Recorder. One to the TV. One to a VCR etc...

Then by switching between AV1 and AV2 on your TV, you could watch the output from the DVD recorder as on your current setup, or watch Sky RGB directly - regardless of what your DVD recorder tuner is set to.

  7. Unfortunately, AV2 on the TV is not RGB! Damn!

  8. Well, through the years I have seen a few SKY topics asking about dvd recorders. Maybe you could search around the forum for a key word, say, SKY?
