  1. Here's what I want to do. I want to create a VCD (don't have a DVD burner, just a CD-RW) to play in my DVD player with a repeating message on it. A scrolling banner/slideshow with a few pictures maybe. Just that simple. What is the simplest tool to do the job. I will be burning on my computer, XP pro with CD-RW. This will probably be a one off deal so I'm looking for a freeware/shareware program and preferably one that is not huge (ISDN line).

Personally, I'd go with Slide Show Movie Maker, which will create an AVI of your various photos/banners. You can even add music.

But then you'll have to convert it to MPEG and author as a VCD. I'd use TMPGEnc, the free version of which can be used for unlimited MPEG-1 encoding (which is what you need ... and it will also encode your audio).

Then you'll need to author as VCD. Use the last free version of VCDEasy. That part's pretty much drag-n-drop simple.

That's the easiest way I can think of to do it right.
