  1. Hi All ,

Ok . my problem is this ...... i have audio and sync problem when i convert my avi files with TMPGEnc . I hve extracted my audio to wav using Virtualdub . And load the new wav as audio source in TMPGenc.
And i start encoding. After encoding i start to play back ...... have notice some drop/bad/freeze frameor watever u guys call it.

So i presume its the bad frame thats does the fault .Ok so i load it in Virtualdub mp3 freeze and scan for bad frames using the guide in this site.

But Virtualdub could'nt locate any bad frame or watsoever. I'm sure it;s the Bad frame which causes the Sync problem.

    My question is

    1) If i load my avi into V/Dub mp3 freeze and scan for bad frame ..... does V/db mp3 freeze automatically Repair it ?

    2) I hve tried Divxfix ......but it don't seem to work ....keep crashing.
Any other tools that i can work with ??

Any help will be appreciated !! Thx!!

    Hello!

Need a bit more info please:

    1) Explain exactly what you see when playing the AVI that you refer to as being "have notice some drop/bad/freeze frameor watever u guys call it".

    2) What type of audio sync issues are you experiencing? Is it constant audio offset delay throughout or is it a gradual, ever increasing delay (starts off correctly sync'd & then gets worse as the film progresses)? Does audio go out of sync before / after the 'bad frames' or does it not appear related?

    3) What type of AVI are you converting from (Video codec / bit rate & Audio type / sampling rate / bit rate)? i.e. just plop it onto GSpot & tell us what it reports.

    4) What MPEG settings are you using when converting (for both audio & video)?

    5) What is your final goal (why are you trying to convert) - an SVCD, VCD or DVD etc?

DivFix is not the tool for this type of problem - I think (I may be wrong) it only fixes the header information so that it matches the actual length of the AVI film i.e. you can 'repair' & then watch partially downloaded / incomplete films.

I know of no program that can 'Automatically' repair Audio Sync problems.

    Cheers,

    Andy

Sometimes Virtualdub mp3 freeze will not pick up some curruption (as long as it can decode it, it assumes its ok)
so if you have watched the avi (or the encode) and know where the glitch occurs then cut it out in the same way
Just go to time code and select index frames either side of the glitch - then delete, then save (video) as direct stream copy, and save out wav and try again
Had just 1 such file last week, no bad frames reported but 12mins into the avi there WAS some curruption - did the above and now sorted

  4. Ok , i'll try to explain as detail as possible ...srry for my english .

1)After i convert my avi to mpg ......... i preview it with WMP ...... the first 10 min is all ok ,audio and video all in sync , but after the 10 min i notice a frame corrupted and the audio continue..... which result in audio and video out of sync. (meaning audio ahead of video now )
*Before converting avi audio and video is in sync even i notice the bad frame.

    2)Explain above .

    3)File : 201 MB (201 MB), duration: 0:45:03, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 13 %

    Video : 183 MB, 569 Kbps, 11.988 fps, 352*240 (4:3), MP43 = MS MPEG4 V3, Supported

    Audio : 18.4 MB, 56 Kbps, 24000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported

4)I've tried all (NTSC/NTSC-Film/Pal) but all also out of sync

    5) VCD

Hope that can help u to understand more.

    Hello again,

So your source appears to be an AVI that uses the DivX3 video codec and the MP3 audio codec. (To convert this to a VCD I would use TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress).

However you say that the AVI video part of the source is corrupt but regardless of this, still plays OK with Audio correctly sync'd.

You try to convert it and due to bad video screws up the convertion process resulting in Audio out of sync after 10mins. i.e. crap in = crap out.

To do a successful conversion to VCD you must therefore get rid of the glitch like Roderz suggests. If the new AVI plays correctly then converting should be OK...

    Good luck

    Andy.

On Divfix, load file, and choose Rebuild Index, when it is done, file should be repaired.

This works to watch incomplete avi files, and to repair corrupt ones.

But remember to alter a copy (not the original) ifit is an incomplete and you plan on resuming download at a later time

You can use DivFix with command-line parameters too (and you can use wildcards). For detailed help on the parameters use "DivFix.exe /?".

    Hello again,

Is there a way you can provide a link to your broken AVI file so that it can be downloaded? I ask because I don't have any 'broken' AVIs myself & trying to give help is a bit like working in the dark!

    Cheers,

    Andy
