  1. I have new stuff since my last post. I now post from a 1.25 GHz G4 eMac, and I broke down and got DVD Studio Pro.

I have ffmpegx, DiVA, yadeX, etc, but I'm trying to figure out how to get DVDSP to use already made subtitles. When I rip, they are saved as SPC, and DVDSP only accepts STL, SON, TXT and SCR. When I tried converting it in TitleLab, I got a bunch of weird signals.

    Any ideas?

Never used it myself, but you can find subtitles in different formats at http://divxstation.com/subtitles.asp

  5. Most of these subtitle files are just plain text files, with formats that are pretty easy to understand (the STL format is defined in the DVD Studio Pro manual).

Just use a text editor like BBEdit to edit the file. With a bit of search and replace to get the text into the correct format, you should be able to get it to import into DVD Studio Pro.

  6. But how do I convert .spc to .stl, even indirectly? I'm a bit of a dilletante when it comes to some of these finer points.

  8. I tried importing them as .txt but then I get this message:

    "No corresponding subtitles found.
The video asset timecode may not correspond with the timecode specified for the subtitles in the import file or the file is invalid."

  9. I also downloaded the excel file but have found its instructions way too vague.

  10. Existing Subtitles .SRT or .SUB can be opend in TitleLab and will be converted into a .TXT file that can be imported in DVDSP 1.5 For importing into DVDSP 2 you have to do some work in it can use texteditor for it. Replace the space between the 2 timelines by a comma and replace the

tag with a | sign so it looks something like this:

00:01:25.25 , 00:01:29.24 , This is a test | but it should show two lines.

Now you already can import it inot DVDSP 2 You could also put this at top of the TXT:
    $FontName = Comic Sans MS
    $FontSize = 24
    $Bold = True
    $HorzAlign = Center

This will use the comic sans font at a size of 24 bold and placed the lines in the center could also use left or right whatever you prefer.
