So you tried to scan it and you get the black band around the center. You checked CDcovers.cc and someone posted the same black banded image. I guess you could use the Australian version, but it doesn't look as cool.

So now you're wondering what I'm posting this for, right?

Here's what I did to get a pretty good image. Take a paperclip and spread it open about 1/4 inch. Put the paper clip on your scanner with the big end up and place a wieght over the other end. Now place the very bottom end of the DVD on the paperclip. Scan with the lid up.

Open it in your favorite image program and stretch the sides out just a little bit to get the aspect ratio back to round (stretch just a little). Now adjust the color with auto levels. Done...

Should look a LOT better and you should hardly notice the band. I printed mine to a Prodisc silver top and it came out great

I would post mine to cdcovers, but every time I try, it never gets added to the list. Surely looks better than the half black banded circle.

Is this some sort of new "cd cover scanning protection"?

I'm curious, what do you use to put the cover on the DVD? Would something like CD Stomper be good or is there better alternatives? Also what would be a good printer for quality?

People here say labels on dvds aren't a good idea. They destablize them and ruin playback.

I just use a sharpie.

Or you could invest in a dvd printer and printable dvds.

I use printable DVDs made by Prodisc.
The printer I use is Epson R200 with generic ink.
