Hi
I have a JVC DX95EK DV camcorder. When I first got the unit I shot some footage in widescreen but did not like letterbox effect on the LCD and switched to 4:3. I have also read that to support 16:9 you need a special lens (major bucks). All of the 4:3 stuff works fine.
I have read in my 16:9 footage using my normal dv capture program (windv) and it has the widescreen flag set. I then trim the rough from the image using direct stream copy in virtualdub and save it. This works fine too.
I think my problem comes up when joining my DV scenes in Videostudio 8. I have also added transitions here and noticed that suddenly the whole thing looks in widescreen but has borders all around the footage. ie borders top and bottom and well as right and left. The whole thing is much smaller than it should be. The project settings specify 16:9 DV. Even my titles overflow into the large borders on the right and left.
Is anyone able to confirm that UVS8 is not a good program to do this in and can anyone comment on the best programs for authoring widescreen shots.
It seems that the 16:9 flag stays. Procoder2 thinks that my footage resolution is 1024 x 576 instead of 720x576 before encoding in MPEG2.
The whole things looks OK other than the borders. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
