I`ve had my dvd burner a couple of months now...its a pioneer 107,ive made hundreds of vcd`s/svcd`s before using an old 8 speed cd writer and tmgenc with very little coasters.
im trying to get good compatabilaty when converting avi to dvd,i thought i`d got it sorted using winavi, but it seems not![]()
Im not to bothered about menus, just want the film to play fullscreen on my dvdplayer or PS2,ive tried different media, and am now using ritek G04,tmgenc seems to give me lots of bitrate spikes, causing the film to skip or lock up,dvdsanta seems fine on PS2(apart from no fast forward)..i thought winavi was good alround...but lately been getting bad disk errors or frame skipping from both PS2 and DVD players...is it time to get the svideo cable out,a blank VHS,and boot up TVtool again?![]()

what is your question exactly ?
what are you authoring and burning your disk with and what settings are you using encoding ?"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Id like to get compatability with all dvd players, ive heard that taking a mpeg2 and using dvdlab get good results, but what would you use to convert the avi to mpeg2?i used tmgenc with different setting and followed guides from here but results werent good.tried burning with different software and now using nero, dvdsanta seems to work fine on most PS2,but has no fast forward.I thought winavi was good but i can convert one avi with exactly the sames settings as another and one will work fine and the other wont...or it will have no sound..or maybe sound for 5 minutes then stop.
So im asking what other people use and if they get good compatability?
cheers -
I use TMPGEnc, QuEnc or MainConcept to encode. IfoEdit, TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVDAuthorGUI to author, and imgtools classic + DVDDecrypter to burn. This way, I create DVDs 100% compatible with my DVD player - all I care for.
But you can't (and probably never will) get compatibility with all DVD players. Specially consoles (XBox, PS2) seem to be very temperamental when it comes to DVD Video playback.

yeah, dont look so close to your efforts, more at the hardware your trying to play it on.
