My MAD DOG NEC2510-A external burner to a dump on me. Had bad sector read errors. But found out that there was noting wrong with the disk it was reading. So N-E-ways I picked up a LACIE external usb 2.0 8x burner. Its not dual layer though, and the rom is made by Lite-On.

Did I do good? Will this bad boy last? How is the quality of Lacie and there Lite-on dvd burner roms?

IMHO,, I sure do know that the Lacie is way a hell of a quiter burner and seems to do good.

    What's your guys inputs?
    Thanks

I've got two NEC2510A's. Set up internally, no probs with mine m8. The disk you were reading was it an original?

    Hi Thesicilian,

Yes the dvds I was reading were originals, no boots. Everytime on certin time on disk it had a bad sector read. So I put that same dvd into my laptop dvd player (toshiba dvd rom) and it played fine with no bad read sector.

-But anyways I was happy w/ the 2510a, but this Lite-on by Lacie seems to be a nice unit. Very quite, and there is no rear power supply w/ a fan that makes all that noise like my MadDog NEc2510 did. I feel good about the replacement, but that bad thing is that its not a dual layer burner. Oh well
