  1. Here is the specs of the file I am trying to convert to DVD compliant NTSC format. I would eventually like to author this as well. I have had hardly any luck converting and authoring stuff...so the simpler an explanation, the better... Please help. If possible, I would like to put these two files one one authored dvd.

well never mind, I can't post my image for some reason. ANyone have any suggestions?

I know, but I can't even get my NTSC files to convert right! It seems like there is always something I am missing or doing wrong... Anyone have suggestions on programs to use or a specific guide that should definitely work with this file?

  8. I will post the specs on a NTSC file I can't get to work first since it is probably going to be easier and then I may learn enough to do some stuff on my own for awhile! I'LL BE BACK!!!

NeoDVD by Mediostream is the easiest avi/mpeg to dvd program that I know. It comes with backgrounds, frames and menus that can be renamed. You can also set timed chapter points or set them yourself with the edit function. There is even an option to write immediately to disc so that as it converts it writes the dvd out for you.
The mediostream site did not have a demo but recently said that they will be offering one for neodvd6.
I got version 4 free with a hardware purchase. Even though I often use other tools now, I still use it to do some quick tests with a variety of files and it always works well so far. If you find the ac3 codec then you can encode the audio to ac3. My version only offers 3 quality settings best, better and good. I always choose better and if it's too big for a dvd then I write it to hd and then shrink it with dvdshrink. I find that the quality looks better that way.
Since I got this tool I always recommend it to new users. The problem until now was a lack of demo. Hope that the neodvdn6 demo is available now.

  11. Will this do PAL to NTSC or convert stuff with irregular resolution such as 640 x 288?

It will convert to standard resolutions like 720 x 480 for ntsc and choose the right framerate but I don't expect it to fix distorted resolutions. You may end up with a narrow image with a wider black border. You would have to try it yourself. It's easy.
