Ok, just checked my profile and i've made 800 odd post and 500 of those are off topic, the other 300 are in other forums but some might say they are still way off topic
it worked out 61% was off topic - I hereby swear to get my off topic posts under 60% and keep it there if i can.

might be me. I'm at 92.8%

I'm one of those guys that just updates the media, software, hardware & tools info when I try it. I'll order 100 DVDs from 5 or 6 different manufacturers. With 500-600 DVDs, I'll rotate different software on my computers and use different burners. I'll then try the discs on as many DVD Players as I can possibly try them in. Then I report my findings. Unfortunately, it doesn't add to my post count. It sucks, because I'd be 5X's my count right now if I did. My extra successful discs, I give out to friends or sell them to people to cover the costs of my media, software, and time I've spent. Even then I have way too many discs. I need more things to make copies of or try to reauthor. Right now I'm working on a PAL to NTSC conversion of items not available on NTSC. That should help with my extra time and I know I'll get a bunch of coasters with it. I usually give my coasters to friends and a local Boy Scout troop. They use them for a bunch of different projects. I don't throw any away.

I was up over 70% before being made a mod. Then it dropped due to all the posts in other forums that are part of the job.

Not really. You never did do much blatant whoring, like quoting yourself or running a bunch of posts in the test forum to jack up your numbers.

We had a fair amount of that going on. And a lot of posts with just "+1" in them. It was an ugly sight. There was even the possibility that the OT could be removed entirely. I know of one person who would wet himself with joy if that happened.

So the word was issued that blatant post-whoring would have to stop, and the OT image would have to improve a bit. It was getting pretty raunchy with some of the topics. Many of those ended up deleted, along with the Word Association thread.

You can find the threads on the whole OT condition easily enough by going back a couple pages in the OT threads and finding the ones around Aug. 10 - 20th, about.

Several people left for good in protest.. Some left and came back. Some voiced their objections but hung around. Some came back after an absence upon seeing the change, having been lurking in the other forums for a while.

It turned out OK. OT is pretty much back the way I remember it from this past winter and spring - what I consider the glory days. Most of the same members are back ...or still here, except a few.

That's pretty bad, but usually I just scan the newbie threads and answer threads with "0" replies...if I can help. I only frequent 4 forums anyway. Newbies, DVD Authoring, DVD to DVDR and OT of course. I also go to media for occasional entertainment...some folks at the media forum and DVD player forum have some serious loyalty and opinions about certain brands.

I've been here for over a year and still haven't reached 1,000 posts...and I'd say 98% of my posts were responses to others' posts or questions.

Numbers don't mean much...I don't post for the sake of posting or just to shoot the breeze, so to speak :P


I wouldn't say OT is place to dump meaningless threads - when I first started posting here, many of the questions and topics were fairly related to the site, and I think OT was more enjoyable then...or maybe just seems that way

Just that it wasn't as cluttered with irrelevance and clowing around - there was some of that to an extent but nothing that got out of hand like in the past few months.

Not complaining...but pointing out statistics don't equal content.
Wouldn't say I've been the most helpful, but when people think post whores...I doubt I'm even in the top 20 that spring to mind :P


If anything, I'd say I rank highest in most unnoticed
