    I want to record from my dv camera directly to my laptop via firewire. I was wondering what the best software would be to do this. I've done some tests with M$ Movie Maker and this will work but I'm assuming there is better software out there for this.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Sorry, not Virtualdub. Won't work with DV and Firewire. Another is ScenalyzerLive. You could also use Mainconcept encoder for straight to MPEG-2 if you don't need editing.

    I'll download these and give them a try.

    Next is reading the guides for converting to DVD.
