Sony DRU510a and 8x media?

Picked up Memorex 8x DVD+R media in CC on sale. It has a huge warning that 2x and 4x burners need a firmware upgrade. Sony upgrade descriptions don't say anything about compatibility with 8x media.
What's the best thing to do?

Answering my own question...
Unfortunately, even after updating to the latest firmware 2.1a, it wouldn't properly use the media. Effective burn speed was 2x, and the buffer level was constantly jumping from 20 to 100% as opposed to staying firmly at 100%, like it did with the normal 4x media.

So if you are planning on stocking on 8x media, wwait until Sony releases proper firmware. I'm going to try to exchange at least one pack to 4x.

I did the firmware update on my 510 and it burns 8x the same quality as 4x.

I think that was for Pioneer writers, not Sony.

Sorry, it turned out that I have Sony DRU500A, which, I thought, has the same hardware as 510a...
