2 probs, grrrrrr aiw9800pro and hdd

i know this should be in OT but i'll try here first

first prob. tried to reinstall all the drivers and software for my aiw 9800pro after a fresh install of windows xp pro. worked fine on my other hdd but i used the disc it came with. tried using what ati had on their web site. run into an error when it gets to installing DAO. try to uninstall from add/remove no go, gives system error..error 3 i think. so i cant uninstall it and i know the DAO has to do with managing data so i kinda need it. any idea's?


second prob. had my week old 160gb samsung hdd on a promise ultra ata133 tx2 pci card. took that out and now im trying to use it as secondary on master channel. well windows shows me that it needs to be formated and the max its gonna give me is 31.4gb it has already been formated to ntfs and was working fine any ideas on this one either?

As far as your hard drive goes, your other controller doesn't seem to support 48-bit LBA, which is why you need the Promise card.

the controller card is older technology than my mobo. my motherboard does support ultra 133

Don't quote me but I believe there are SOME controllers that support ATA133 but NOT 48-bit LBA.

i think im just gonna put it back on the controller card and have a little less stress in my life. life shouldnt be this hard stupid computers. im kinda more worried about the AIW thing. how am i supposed to re install if my system wont uninstall the DAO. stupid ati. everything is being stupid lately

I think DAO is actually an M$ thing. Try their support site for how to uninstall it.
