  1. ive been readin a lot of guides now cuz im a complete newb at ripping dvds so i want to figure out a way to do it...i tried dvdx and other programs like dvd-to-avi but i always came out with a movie that was constantly going in and out of sync many times during the movie....i remeber my brother used a guide that was on vcdhelper.com (which this website was formerly) that used the programs dvd decrypter, dvd2avi, virtualdub and some other program and he ripped dvds like they were nothing....im tryin to find the same guide but all im finding are programs and guides that require some1 to be a computer engineer to understand...all im asking for is the easiest guide possible to go from dvd to avi using dvd decrypter, dvd2avi, virtualdub and maybe only a few other progs that would allow me to do so....

Ps...my knowledge about dvd decypter is getting the .vob files from it then loading it into dvd2avi...then from there im lost....and suggestions...ideas...?

If you want to copy DVD to DivX, I personally use Dr. DivX, yes its not free, but its very simple to use, and I've always used DVD Decrypter, just rip the main movie and convert to DivX from where it is, you coudl always use AnyDVD to rip straight from the DVD, but again thats now free .......

If you are using a source movie that is already out-of-sync audio, then you'll get that is the final result

I've done a few DivX movies, and the audio is perfect, maybe its the source thats causing the problems

Why convert to DivX, DVD media is alot cheaper than it used to be, I know you can put upto 6 movies onto a single DVD

If you are intending to just backup a single DVD, either just the main movie or the entire DVD, llook at my guide for using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, both free, and thats all you need to rip, convert and burn to a DVD

Stop messing about and download FairUse - best DVD to DivX/XviD software there is.

Version 0.44 (freeware) still available for download here >

(click on - 'Scarica il file')

  4. Personally, I would give AutoGK a go. You can't go wrong with it.

its been happening EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!

and then when i conitnue to click cancel dvd decrypter doesnt select the right .vob file...it chooses one of the dvd's 15minute extras instead of the 1:30 minute movie....

also the VTS01 doesnt show up in dvd decrypter which where i think the movies actualy vob file really is...

I found this guide to be INVALUALBLE...it DOES NOT use an 'all in one' solution but takes you thru' the process of maually ripping and converting step by step.

    http://www.nanomessiah.com/dvd-backup/dvd-to-xvid.html

Save the page to your HDD... and forget 'all in one' solutions.

You might want to use the latest version of the xvid codec or xvid 0.91 (for higher compatability with avi enabled DVD players).

The same site also has DivX and .ogm guides.

.....the funny thing being that you need to know how to do things manually to understand what all the options are in a 'all in one' solution anyway.........think about it.........do you know how to use GK?

Ensure to install all the required software BUT REMEMBER things like AutoGK and DVD2SVCD will ALREADY have installed most things anyway (use EXPLORER to check your software) DO NOT install software TWICE!!!.
