  1. I guess my Subject heading says it all!

    But thanks to all responses.
I just got my 108 today. Read somewhere that says Ritek 8x will on this 108 at 16x with the new firmware.

    Is that true?

    THANKS...

I have a Plextor 12X that will burn Maxell and Verbatim 8X at 12X. Realize it's not your Pioneer but it might be a starting point for experimentation.

  3. I was hoping for Ritek, Prodisc, or OptoDisc which is much cheaper than the brandname Maxell or Verbatim.

    Anyone???

    Used ANV Riteks myself....
Personally the time saved doesn't justify the extra media cost....

The Prodisc 8X will burn at 12X. I have a 108 1.10 and they burn beautifully.

I would go with the recommendations from people with the same model you have BUT I'm not sure above is a correct statement (always). Verbatim 8X (Japan) are $29.99 for a 50 spindle at Best Buy this week.

I use Ritek G05 8X DVD-R's, they record at 12X on my Pioneer 108 1.10 firmware. I use the printable media, they work great - no problems.

    maldb,
    Prodisc -R or +R?
I have tried Prodisc 8x +R and quality was not so good (burned at 8x).
