    what i dont understand is why movie are released in the US long before they are even out here in the UK.

    For example, The Punisher is out on DVD in the US, while here in the UK, its not even released in the Cinemas. Looks like im gonna be buying region 1 dvds.

    Why are episodic dvd sets released in the UK before the US?

    The same thing happens over here. UK or asian movies that are already on DVD aren't even in theaters here.

    Hello,

    That's part of the reason a dvd region scheme was developed in the first place. To control the flow of when and where movies are released. Though, I don't think they foresaw region free players or that the encyption code would be defeated.
