  1. I have an All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro video card. My understanding is that I should be able to transfer movies that I have on VHS tapes to my computer using this card. Is that accurate? If so, can anyone give me some guidance as to how? I've attached an RCA cable to my VCR and the other end to the ATI input block, which in turn connects to the video card. Will this set-up work? What software do I need to see and capture the video? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

  3. Do you have your ATI manual and disk, or you buy the card used and not get one? All the basic stuff like how to connect it and software etc.. should be there!!

Then advanced info is everywhere here! Not being a snob, just that does seem rather basic unless you got a card without a disk or manual to look at.

    The mentioned site is good!

And to actually give some help, yes!
Connect the VCR out to the ATI in. For sound you connect the audio the same way, BUT then you have a little cable on the ATI OUT that plugs into your sound cards line input. So if you asked because you had no sound, plug that in. ATI does not actually do sound it passes it to the soundcard.

Provided you installed the card and drivers correctly, you are probably now ready to capture something. You should have installed the ATI Media center software, if not then do it. MMC as it's called has a nice capture program. Click the TV picture and that's where you capture at. On that controll panel you have an Icon to select source, you are doing composite so select that. Normally clicking it will change to the next choice, so click then click again if needed. With VCR playng you should now have the picture on your screen. If it is all whacked then you probably have a comercail tape in and macrovsion protection is a problem. But you should at least have that whacked display now!
Or you can open the setup and choose it also to select source.
Of course if you use S-video input then choose that as source, for tv cable or antenna type sources if connected directly choose TV/channels? If connected to a VCR you have to choose the channel at the VCR probably.

You need to set your capture settings, not sure if the newer ATI settings are anygood or not, I only use customs. Anyway you should now be ready to capture (rather useable settings or not).

At anytime after having chosen composite for your input you should see the movie playing on your screen if you have the VCR runing also.

That should get you started anyway. Good luck.
And I have the 7500 Radeon ATI, and what I based the above info on and dought it changed with newer cards but may have.
