Does it ONLY happen when your download is at warp speeds?
How loud is it? Much louder than the noise that your HD makes when your OS is loading up?
Are you sure that it is not a fan?

hmmm, ok, are you 100% sure that it is your HD?
If you are not 100% sure, be ready to take the side of your case of next time you are downloading something. When you hear the noise, take away a side panel (or whatever) of the case and then locate the source to see if it is definately the HD that is making the noise.
BTW, do you have a hardware monitor of some kind?

Dude, I bet it's like a Delta fan... Hehe...
Those mofos are loud as hell when they're fine, and mine died recently because it turns out that the louder grinding noise it made when I played Q3A or encoded shi was the cables being hit by the fan blades at 26000 times per minute... hehe... damnit. Next time I am going to like tape the cables down somewhere or something...

I am still waiting for my crap to come in, too... feh.
