Mine don't. They blink for just a short time, and then default to blank or --:-- afterwards.

I never set VCR clocks anymore, never use the for timer recordings. Just blanks.

    Hello,

I have one older one that does - actually wait a minute - it defaults to --:--

My two main ones I still use don't have a front display on the unit itself - though I do set the clocks

Mine constantly displays the "12:00", but doesn't flash. It has the ability to set the clock itself based on the cable signal. It also creates it's own channel guides (name of show, run length, etc) from the cable signal.

Problem is that I don't have it hooked to the cable!

My VCR clock sets itself. Not sure how, it's about 8 years old. I think it gets the time code from Teletext.

Yep. The one downstairs is dedicated to just tape-to-standalone transfers and the clock isn't set on it.

The one upstairs by the PC is my main capping VCR and it's set correctly

Yeah like off your local PBS or something like that I think.

Someone at my job once tried to say our time clock wasn't wrong.. my cell phone was. I just laughed and laughed.

There should be an off switch for those damn clocks. How many clocks do you need? I go in my kitchen and there 5 or 6 clocks to reset everytime the poewr goes off. Don't ever use any of them except for the time.

Yep, got it set. Its hooked up to the PC and hardly ever used but its right next to the bed and an easy way to tell what time it is at night.

Wait a minute, it looks like I'm saying yes to the question in the original post. Actually I'm saying that the clock is set. It doesn't blink 12:00.

Yep, mine stays on a flashing 12:00. I use my PC as a timer and the VCR is just a passthrough for cable TV, so it's not real improtant to me to have the time set.
    If in doubt, Google it.
