  1. OK i did not have any luck with FastDVDCopy. I only got a reply stating they are aware of audio-video sync problems and they will be fixed in the next release....so....I decided to learn from you guys and use MTR to extract one of my movies Hidalgo using MTR first "main feature only"...then DVDremaster to compress the movie to fit 4.4 and then DVD imager to get a burnable disc image before finally using macosx disc copy to burn the image

Well it worked I got the movie and was watching it with full Dolby 5.1 and DTS and then it started a little way into it approx 2-3sec of pixelation where the screeen would increase pixel size to where the image was blurry and then 3 sec later snap back to normal....this goes on every 5-8 mins throughout the movie...its annoying....

So I am that close to success and not being called a newbie anymore. I turn to you guys once again for a solution........

I am using G4 867 with a pioneer DVR-103 SD and khypermedia dvd-r as well as Maxell dvd-r.

    your help is greatly appreciated!

Try DVD2OneX. DVDRemaster seems to pixelize images more than DVD2One does.

It'll do 30min of video. It compresses it as it would for a full disc so you'll know what to expect the full disc to look like.

the demo cripples the output...the 5500MB should not be the problem.

  9. the demo cripples the output??? Is this documented anywhere? i did not know dvdremaster did that........so if I ordered it this pixelation problem would disappear?

can anyone verify for sure that this happened to them and that once they bought the program the pixelation issue went away???

"This demo of DVDRemaster is meant for evaluation only. There is no limit on how long you can use it, or how much data can be recompressed, but the image will be crippled during 5 seconds every minute. The output should still be good enough for you to decide whether DVDRemaster works for you."

working on main title only rarely gives problems to me. full disc copies with long main movie and lots of extras (ie pulp fiction) cause pixelization. never tried dvd2onex.

I would definitely recommend using DVD2OneX. Plus, they've just added a new compression mode (Selective - low, medium and high) to play around with. With all of 5 different compression modes, you'll probably find at least one that gives you good quality, even on larger DVDs. 5.5GB shouldn't be a problem at all, for most encodes, though some DVDs compress quite poorly. Also, film only mode might give better results, if you don't care about extra features. Oh, and if you have the option, always eliminate the DTS audio track, as they take up a significant amount of space. You can leave 5.1 channel AC3 though, as they're quite compressed.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  13. support just got back to me with regards to the pixelation in dvdremaster and it was confirmed that pixelation occurs only in the demo mode......this being the case my dvd's are burning fine.

thanks for all the help guys
