i'm not sure if this has been asked b4, if it has then i am sorry. but can anyone please direct me to where i can download the drivers for the Pioneer dvr-108 dvd burner? everything seems to work ok except for the 2x media, i can burn to it but only writes at 1x speed.
also the Dual Layered blank disc that came with the drive does not work. i think it's because i don't have the drivers for it. i get an error message that says please insert a compatible disc from nero.
i have installed the drive into an external firewire case since all of my drive bays are occupied.
MY PC is running windows ME...
thanks for any advice.

Dvd or cd burner do not come with drivers, windows has native drivers already that go with any drive installed, what you need is firmware update to burn more types of dvd.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
i see, so where can i download the latest firmware??? would appreciate the help.

Google.com for pioneer dvd burner firmware update.

what is the latest version? i googled it and it gives me 1.10 is this the correct version?

this is an OEM drive, so it didn't come with any drivers or firmware updates...

check to see that DMA is enabled. here's a guide on how to enable DMA mode. it's for windows 98, windows me and xp.

EDIT: I didn't read your original post correctly. If your 108 is in a external enclosure and it's via USB that is why you're burning 1x speed. Try hooking it up via FIREWIRE. USB has compatibility issues with DVD BURNERS. make sure the drive is in DMA mode. -
this is a firewire enclosure. not USB...i will try everything. thanks to all who replied.
btw, how do i check the firmware version on my drive? -
i figured out how to find out what firmware version i have, it says 1.10 so now i'm really confused.
i searched the forum and they say 1.10 it's the latest. but my DL drive still doesn't work properly. -

Are you sure the version of Nero you are using supports DL? I don't remember which version does, but that sounds like a good possbility.

thx guys my problem has been solved. it was indeed nero who was the culprit. i needed to install the updates and then i was able to record a DL disc.
