  2. Baldrick changed to a Linux server when Mushkin let him down quite badly. VideoHelp was out for days.

But the turnover was awful. I refer to them as the Dark Days. I have a very vague recollection over what I did during them, but my memory is slowly returning. I still get the shakes when I think it may happen again some time in the future.

  9. That looks like a real quality product there, Baldrick. If you don't mind my asking, how much is that setting you back?

And all this time I thought he had a 286 in a spare closet.

Just think how much spam you could send with that facility.

That doesn't sound too bad. It sure is faster than the previous server farms.

  14. The Planet is one of our customers and buys storage systems from my company. I've taken a tour of the place (I live in Dallas) and I can assure you it is a top-line organizarion. The facility is amazing with a huge NOC, highly redundant systems and 2 massive diesel generators the size of freight train locomotives.

[H]ardOCP also hosts out of that facility.

Baldrick -- I feel comfortable that your site is in capable hands !!

Judging by the output capability of those generators, they probably ARE locomotive engines. Minus the locomotive, of course.

Were you encoding Divx when it died or what...? Just promise you won't install any warez on your new host. Dual Xeon may be quite tempting... for some encoding when idle... at least say something before you let it loose.

How about online encoding service...? With good cable hookup we could make your CPU sweat a little bit
