  1. I just burned the movie Phonebooth but whenever I try to start it just shows a C:13 and won't start the menu. I've tried pressing menu on the remote before the C;13 flashes up but nothing will work? Anyone know whats up?

  2. Sony's are notorious for throwing up those C:13 errors.. In my experience, it's usually a reauthoring problem but could media or burn problems for DVD compatibility.

Need more info - what's your process/tools used?

  3. My Sony DVD player gives me that code when my discs are s@#$!

It's accompanied by a 'Dirty Disc' message.

  4. Agreed - a C:13:00 error message according to Sony and their manuals is a "Dirty Disc".

However, it could be any disc that was unreadable - I used to get this a lot with my 535. Discs that work really well for me (although YMMV) are - in no particular order - Ritek G03, 04, 05, Optodisc - but I absolutely have to avoid CMC, Infosmart, Vivastar...

I used to get those errors on my Sony machine all the time till I upgraded the firmware on my burner. I haven't got the message since. It could also mean your machine doesn't like the discs you're using. You may want to try a different brand.

This is actually a pretty common error on the Sony DVD players. It has to do with a certain type of fuse used. It has been documented on lots of different sites. Here is a link to fixing the problem (not for the non-technicial person).

Do a search on google for sony dvd "C:13" and you will pull up a bunch of sites.
